Bhilai is a planned city situated in Durg District, 25 km from capital city Raipur. Bhilai, officially called Bhilai Nagar is a major industrial city in India as well as education hub of central India. The city is mainly known for Bhilai Steel Plant (SAIL), which is one of the largest steel plants in India.
Dhamtari is an important tourist town of Chattisgarh that is home to the Chalukya empire of the 14th Century. It is also known for its temples, folk culture and wildlife sanctuary. Dhamtari is located along the banks of Mahanadi and its tributaries Pairy, Sendur, Sondur, Joan, Kharun and Shivnath.
Dantewada is a quaint little town situated in the Bastar district that offers a panoramic landscape view of gushing rivers, sparkling waterfalls, mighty hill peaks and lush green meadows. Also known as Tarlapal and Dantawali, the town was named after the deity Danteshwari, an incarnate of Shakti, who later came to preside the Danteshwar temple. The town also houses recently developed stretch of Rowghat mines.
Raipur is the largest city in the state which is also the capital of Chhattisgarh. Raipur is one of the largest industrial centres of the country with more than hundreds of steel mills and six steel plants. Besides steel, it is also home to the aluminium and coal industries. The city is known for its temples, lakes, factories, educational centres as well as the development of Naya Raipur.
Chitrakoot is a naturally occurring waterfall in the Bastar district of Chhattisgarh. It is located in the western region of Jagdalpur and is one of the prime tourist attractions in and around Jagdalpur that is famous for its breathtaking sunsets. The waterfall is sourced from the Indravati river which flows westwards towards Jagdalpur and cascades down from a descent of 30m from the top of the cliff in 3 streams during summers. However, during monsoon, when the river Indravati is at its maximum flow capacity, the falls stretch over the whole width of 300 meters and plunge down as a magnanimous blanket of glorious roaring water.
Mainpat often called as Shimla of Chhattisgarh and Mini Tibet is a hill station with its untouched green pastures, deep valleys, breathtaking waterfalls, dense forests, magnificent hills and untouched rivulets. The hill station hasn't been completely commercialized yet and receives relatively smaller influx of tourists. The Tibetan refugees were rehabilitated in Mainpat after the Chinese invasion of Tibet and therefore you can see the confluence of cultures and diverse traditions here.
